in the last few days the pakistani government has been boasting its good economic policies. it has been advertising the GDP increase, the exports increase etc.

a sad point is that the inflation indictor has been missing in those statistics. that ommision is intentional in my view. yet, i think, that is the most indicator. it should have had been included.

the reason is that pakistan is a poor country. in this country the people are not really concerned with whether the economy at large goes south or north. they are not much bothered by the statistics. what they do know is that the price of basic necessities have been increasing each day. that alone is worrisome for them.

that the government has deliberately not published those number means that inflation rate is a too high. “growing pains” for a maturing economy, as some would call it. I think it is a “killing stroke” for the majority of the poor.

P.S: BTW, squealer, the pig, in animal farm did a lot better job in throwing statistics at people. perhaps this government should find its own squealer.
