panjab university old campus.

Plagiarism is considered a moral crime everywhere in the world but not in pakistan. even if it is reported by one, the accused does not even get a slap on the wrist. rather the person who reports the crime is called “emotionally unstable”.

that is what has happened in the Panjab University, one of the oldest varsities in the Sub-continent.  it does not seem that any action will be taken against the person who has copied the research of American professors.

Why are we so tolerant of palgiarised material? it is no secret that most of the doctorates awarded in this country are plagiarised. Why are we so tolerant of palgiarised material?will we ever be able to achieve success with “googled” PhDs? I dont think so. but that is not something our universities are  looking at. they just want to increase their funding.

Panjab University might have beautiful colonial building. sadly, buildings do not define academic institutions; the work it churns out does.

  1. Rightly said. Instead of increasing the numbers of Ph.D we must maintain the standard.

  3. ARE you getting jealous!!! this building is world best university….did you get that??????and other thn that plagiarism is not a crime because to get knowledge from others researches helps you to move forward…….that isnt a bad thing if you have any problem than go to the hell…..because your arguments are completely ill logical…

    • I dont know about his university being the best in the world. and its sad that no one about this fact in the world except you. i presume that you are attached to this university either as a student or a teacher. in any case let me just make a few points.
i wrote this blog a while ago. and i have come across many students of this university that were brilliant. but then there were others that were really not upto the mark. same case with the teachers.
from your understanding of the word “plagiarism” i can see why this university is the “Best” in the world. there is a difference between consulting some earlier research and basing your own research upon it, and copying it verbatim. the first case is allowed. the second case is plagiarism and what i have said about it is right.
the problem with us in pakistan is that we dont want to accept responsibility for anything. we still want to be praised even if we are doing wrong.
I appreciate your input here but i dont think i wrote anything wrong. the newspaper article that i linked with it shows that ( maybe its not available anymore because its been a while).

      • You have rightly pointed out the problem that majority of us face within our beloved country i.e unable to accept responsibility for our wrong deeds. And then getting emotional for no solid reason that is even more worse.
